Non Pa Wai (also non Pha Wai) is an archaeological find place in the Valley Khao Wong Prachan in the province of Lop Buri in central Thailand , about 15 km north of the town of Lop Buri . In the plain of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya (Chao Phraya River) and its tributaries, there are hilly outcrops of copper ore .

Excavation history

Non Pa Wai was researched in 1986 and 1990 under the direction of Vincent Pigott . The excavation area is about 5 hectares and revealed refuse from molten metals and households to a depth of four meters.

Finds

Pigott found evidence of copper processing from the nearby hills. In addition, a Neolithic tomb was found, some of which is located under the Bronze Age graves. Based on radiocarbon dating, the area is believed to have been around 2300-500 BC. Was inhabited.

The oldest settlement level still shows no copper processing, this originates around 1500 BC. The copper was extracted from the nearby Khao Tab Kwai.
