Norbert Bacher-Lagler

Norbert Bacher-Lagler (born November 13, 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2007 to 2010 he was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council . He is also chairman of the social democratic trade unionists in Vienna, federal manager of the Vida trade union and vice-president of the Vienna Chamber of Labor .

School and professional career

Norbert Bacher-Lagler completed an electrical mechanic apprenticeship in the Floridsdorf apprenticeship workshop after attending primary and secondary school as well as an HTL and passed the engine driver examination in 1987. Between 1989 and 1990 he attended the social academy . He is an employee of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).

Political career

Through his work for the Austrian Federal Railways, Norbert Bacher-Lagler found politics through his trade union activities. From 1985 to 1988 he was deputy chairman of the Austrian youth trade union and between 1987 and 1992 he was youth secretary of the railway workers' union (FSE). In 1992, Bacher-Lagler rose to the position of secretary in the central secretariat and was parliamentary group leader of the FSE Region East for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland from 1997 to 2000 and chairman of the parliamentary group of Social Democratic Unionists (FSG) in the railway workers' union between 1997 and 2006.

In 1999 he became Vice-President of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Vienna and Central Secretary of the Railway Workers' Union. In 2000 he was elected as the managing central secretary in the Presidium of the FSE and in 2003 as the central secretary. Since 2006, Bacher-Lagler has also been chairman of the Viennese parliamentary group of social democratic trade unionists (FSG) and between 1999 and 2004 was commuter ombudsman for the Chamber of Labor and Employees. Since 2007 he has also been chairman of the board of waff (Vienna workers' advancement fund).

From January 25, 2007 to November 25, 2010 he represented the SPÖ as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and member of the Vienna City Council. According to his own statements, his political focus is on social policy, transport policy, labor market policy and interest policy for employees.

Private

Norbert Bacher-Lagler is married and has two sons.
