Norbert Meder

Norbert Meder (born May 16, 1947 in Meckenheim ) is a German educator . From 2002 to 2012 he was Professor of General Education at the University of Duisburg-Essen .

After studying philosophy, mathematics and pedagogy at the Universities of Mainz, Munich and Cologne, he received a doctorate in philosophy in Cologne in 1974. He then qualified as a professor there in 1984 in pedagogy. From 1986 to 1992 Meder was managing director of Janus Projekte GmbH and from 1992 to 2001 professor for computer science in education and social affairs at Bielefeld University . Between 1994 and 2001 Meder sat on the board of the Institute for Didactics of Mathematics (IDM) and from the winter semester 2001/2002 to the summer semester 2012 he was professor for general systematic pedagogy at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

Meder has mainly worked on topics of educational philosophy, information technology in pedagogical contexts, knowledge organization and general didactics and the theory of the knowledge society and further developed the didactic ontology of web didactics.
