Norbert Meesters (born October 12, 1957 in Wesel ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

biography

Meesters studied social pedagogy at the University of Essen with a degree in social pedagogy . He then worked in youth careers assistance. He then switched to the WAZ media group as a media consultant. He then returned to his job taking care of the long-term unemployed.

politics

In 1984 he was elected to the city council of Wesel for the Green Party. In 1999 he moved to the SPD and is currently deputy chairman of the SPD council group in Wesel and chairman of the local SPD association Wesel-Mitte / Büderich / Ginderich.

In 2010 and 2012 he was elected as a direct candidate in the state constituency of Wesel III in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. He was a member and spokesman for his group in the Committee on Climate Protection, Environment, Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. He was also a member of the committee for culture and media.

Meesters is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Prussian Museum in North Rhine-Westphalia and a member of the board of trustees of Kulturraum Niederrhein eV , the Museum Schloss Moyland Foundation and the NRW Art Foundation .
