Norbert Neuss

Norbert Neuss (* 1966 in Northeim ) is a German educational scientist . He is professor for pedagogy and didactics in elementary school and early childhood in the Faculty of Social and Cultural Studies at the University of Giessen . The main areas of work and research are media education and early childhood education.

After graduating from high school in Einbeck, Norbert Neuss studied pedagogy at the Georg-August University in Göttingen from 1987 to 1994 . In 1999 he received his doctorate under Stefan Aufenanger on the subject of symbolic processing of television experiences in children's drawings , followed by his habilitation on biographically significant learning in 2008 .

After completing his studies, he worked at the Lower Saxony youth welfare office in 1994 and at the DJI in Munich from 1995 and at the PH Heidelberg from 2000 . In addition, he took on teaching positions in media education at various German universities. From 1998 to 2000 he had already taken on a substitute professorship at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen, and from 2005 to 2006 also a substitute professorship at the University of Hamburg, before becoming a full professor at the Holzminden University of Applied Sciences from 2006 . In 2008 he accepted the call to Giessen.

During his studies he was one of the founders of the media education association Blickwechsel , on whose board he remained until 2001. Neuss was chairman of the Society for Media Education and Communication Culture . In addition to his own scientific writings, he has written and published a number of school, textbooks and workbooks and developed educational materials.
