Stefan Aufenanger
Stefan Aufenanger (born January 25, 1950 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German educational scientist and media educator at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz .
Life and education
Aufenanger studied education and sociology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. After his diploma in educational science and his doctorate in sociology, he worked as a research assistant and university assistant at the Pedagogical Institute in Mainz. Following his habilitation in educational science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, he worked at universities in Mainz, Freiburg and Osnabrück as well as in Friborg in Switzerland . In 1993 he was offered a position at the University of Hamburg , where he worked until 2004. From 2005 to 2018, Aufenanger was Professor of Education and Media Education at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He was also Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Media and Sport from June 2009 to April 2014.
Act
Starting in 2006, Aufenanger was Academic Director of the Reading Foundation in Mainz and a member of the Media Literacy Expert Group in the Directorate Information, Society, and Media of the European Commission in Brussels for four years . From March 2010 to April 2014 he was a member of the board of the German Society for Educational Science . Currently, Aufenanger is a member of the Commission for Research Ethics of the DGfE , a member of the advisory board of the Digital Game Culture Foundation (Berlin) and co-editor of the magazine Computer + Studium (Friedrich Verlag / Velber).
The focus of his work was, among other things, the topic of family and media with a focus on media reception and media education. Aufenanger is currently working on the use of tablets in families, kindergartens, schools and universities. His work was influenced theoretically by the structure-analytical research of reception by Michael Charlton and Klaus Neumann-Braun and methodically by the objective hermeneutics according to Ulrich Oevermann.
Aufenanger has been retired since April 1st, 2019.
