Norbert Schnedl (2015)

Norbert Schnedl (born August 16, 1960 in Vienna ) is an Austrian trade unionist , Vice President of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions , Federal Chairman of the FCG , Chairman of the Public Service Union (GÖD) and Chairman of the Vienna Dr. Karl Kummer Institute .

Education and private matters

From 1989 to 1995 Schnedl completed his studies in journalism, political science and sociology in a second education. In 2000 he completed a doctoral degree.

Norbert Schnedl lives in Vienna and Lower Austria and is married.

Career

Schnedl started as a gendarmerie officer in 1979 , where he worked until 1996, most recently at the Lower Austria criminal department. From 1996 to 2000 he was employed in the Federal Chancellery (responsible in the service law section for administrative reform) and the Ministry of Finance (most recently in the budget section). Since 2001 he has been head of service law and a member of the board of the public service union (GÖD). Since January 24, 2007 he has been Vice President of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions and a member of the board of the ÖGB. His main focus is the future of work .

In October 2016 he was elected chairman of the public service union to succeed Fritz Neugebauer .

Awards

After completing his studies, Norbert Schnedl received the “Appreciation Prize of the Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Art” for outstanding academic achievements in 1995.
