Fritz Neugebauer

Fritz Neugebauer (born October 10, 1944 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and trade unionist ( GÖD , ÖAAB ). He was second President of the National Council from December 2008 to October 2013 .

Life

He was born the son of a seamstress and an ÖBB official in Vienna. He and his wife Eva have two sons, Martin and Michael.

After attending elementary school and the humanistic grammar school in Vienna - Leopoldstadt , Neugebauer graduated from the teacher training institute in Vienna - Innere Stadt with the teaching examinations for elementary schools as well as secondary schools and polytechnical courses (German, history / social studies, geography / economics) and had been since November 1965 ( after completing the military service ) until 1997 continuously working as a teacher at elementary schools, secondary schools and polytechnic courses in Vienna- Brigittenau .

In 1971 Fritz Neugebauer was elected to the central committee of the staff representation of the Viennese state teachers, of which he was a member until 1979, from 1975 to 1989 he was GÖD chairman of the federal section for compulsory school teachers. From 1989 the Viennese held the position of deputy chairman in the public service union, from 1991 to 2003 he was also vice- chairman of the Austrian trade union federation and chairman of the Christian trade union group (FCG) in the ÖGB. In 1997 Neugebauer was elected to succeed Siegfried Dohr as chairman of the public service union, which he held until October 2016. Norbert Schnedl was elected as his successor . At the European level, Neugebauer is active in the interest representation as President of CESI -Eurofedop.

In 1996, 1999 and since 2002 Fritz Neugebauer was elected as a member of the National Council and in 2007 and 2008 he held the position of chairman of the teaching committee. In December 2008, the Viennese was elected second President of the National Council and was chairman of the permanent sub-committee of the main committee on EU affairs as well as the committee of the National Council's rules of procedure. From 2006 to 2009, Neugebauer was deputy chairman of the ÖVP club, and in 2007 and 2008 he was also the education spokesman, before that social spokesman for the ÖVP. From 2003 to 2009 Neugebauer was federal chairman of the Austrian workers' union (ÖAAB). He is a member of the Federal Party Board of the ÖVP and 1st Vice President of the European Union of Christian Democratic Workers (EUCDW).

Fritz Neugebauer is also President of the Insurance Company for Public Employees (BVA).
