Norbert Sobbe (born December 12, 1953 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Beginnings in Duisburg (until 1974)

As a teenager, Sobbe wore the jersey of MSV Duisburg and reached the German A-Junior Championship final in 1972 with its U-19 team . In the final against VfB Stuttgart he was one of the first team to win the competition for the first time in the club's history thanks to a 2-0 victory. The winning team also included the future national player Ronald Worm . Following the success, Sobbe was one of a total of seven members of the team who moved up to the Bundesliga team for the new 1972/73 season.

Among the professionals, the player who was at home in the forward position was initially only a reservist and was not taken into account for a long period of time. That changed on November 10, 1973, when the then 19-year-old came on in a 79th minute defeat by Wuppertaler SV . He had made three short appearances in the top German league before turning his back on MSV in the summer of 1974 and moving to Bayer Leverkusen .

Further career between amateur and professional fields (1974–1985)

With Leverkusen he played in the third-class association league and in 1975 he was promoted to the northern group of the 2nd Bundesliga, which was his return to the professional area. However, he did not have a regular place, did not get more than 15 completed matches in the season 1975/76 and at the end of it moved to the amateur club 1. FC Viersen . From there he went to BV 08 Lüttringhausen in 1978 and rose to the league with this in 1979; this had replaced the association leagues as the third highest division. Lüttringhausen was able to establish itself at this level immediately, became North Rhine-Westphalia champion in 1982 and qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga via a promotion round.

Sobbe had thus succeeded in returning to professional football. In the meantime he was mainly called up in midfield and was able to help secure relegation as a permanent player in the 1982/83 season. In the following event, however, he missed a large part of the encounters and in 1984 also had to accept relegation as bottom of the table. This represented the end of his professional career for the 30-year-old after three first division games without his own goal and 46 second division games with one goal. He left Lüttringhausen and signed with the upper division Wuppertaler SV , for whom he was on the field until 1985.
