At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , he missed a medal as fourth in the discus throwing competition with a width of 64.30 m.
He set his personal best of 66.90 m on April 25, 1976 in Rostock .
Norbert Thiede started for the SC Tractor Schwerin .
