The Nordøsterdalsmuseet is an amalgamation of smaller museums from six municipalities in the east of the Norwegian Fylke Innlandet with a total of 39 locations, 1,462 houses, around 250,000 objects and 120,000 pictures. The main focus is on ethnological open-air museums . The museum also has a mining museum with a visitor mine and an art museum. The museum itself is one of the eight locations of the Hedmark fylkesmuseum.

The headquarters of the museum is the Ramsmoen Museum Center in Tynset . It comprises eleven courtyards and 151 museum buildings, 60 of which have been implemented and the rest in situ, i.e. on the original site. This includes the Husa homestead in Alvdal, which with its 18 houses is one of the best preserved hereditary estates. The most visited section of the museum is the Aukrustsenter. Among the other locations, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson's birthplace, namely the rectory in Bjørgan, as well as the Rendalen Bygdemuseum, the open-air museum in Os , the village museum in Tylldal , the local museum in Tynset, the village museum in Folldal and Dølmotunet near Tolga are particularly noteworthy .
