Nord-Ostseehalle

The Nord-Ostseehalle (deviatingly also Nord-Ostsee-Halle or Nordostseehalle ) was a municipal event and exhibition hall in Kiel . It was located along Gutenbergstrasse on Professor-Peters-Platz, comprised around 8,000 m² of exhibition space and offered space for 25,000 people. The hall was built in 1925/26 according to plans by the Kiel architect Ernst Prinz . In terms of construction , it was a three- hinged frame construction made of steel , encased in a graduated cubature with wooden and brick facades. Erected in a time of political and economic upheaval, the hall was intended to illustrate “Kiel's role as a mediator of culture and commerce in the Baltic region”. Accordingly found u. a. Trade fairs and major sporting events take place. In 1944, the Nord-Ostseehalle was destroyed and its ruins removed after the Second World War.
