Ernst Prinz (born April 1, 1878 in Diekendörn near Emkendorf , † November 26, 1974 in Felde ) was a German architect .

Life

Prinz studied architecture at the technical universities in Charlottenburg and Karlsruhe a . a. with Hermann Billing and Carl Schäfer . From 1907 he worked as a freelance architect in Kiel and was an important representative of homeland security architecture in Schleswig-Holstein . His work encompassed a wide range of construction tasks, including manor architecture and agricultural buildings as well as urban and public buildings as well as interior fittings for steamers operated by North German Lloyd .

Prinz was often active in reform-oriented and professional associations of his time. He was a member of the German Werkbund , the Prussian Academy of Building , belonged to the Federation for Homeland Security and the Federation of German Architects . Prinz is considered to be "a pioneer of a unique, modern North Elbe architecture with a creative connection to local traditions of late baroque brick construction."
