North German handball association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The North German Handball Association (NHV) was a regional association in the German Handball Federation ( DHB) until the end of 2012 and last consisted of the state associations of Saxony-Anhalt , Bremen and Lower Saxony , with the Bremen HV running the game in the western part of Lower Saxony (HVN districts / regions Verden, Diepholz, Bremervörde / Stade and Cuxhaven in the national leagues) co-managed and organized. Until 1991 the state associations Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg belonged to the NHV. They then switched to the newly founded Northeast German handball association .

In contrast to football , not the entire GDR association was converted into a single regional association after German reunification . The German handball association of the GDR was divided into five regional associations, from which the HV Saxony-Anhalt came to the NHV.

history

Up to the 2004/05 season, some teams from the West German handball association also played in the Regionalliga Nord. After the dissolution of the corresponding cooperation agreement (regional league contract), the regional leagues have since been strictly limited to the association territory of the respective regional association.

Since the 2005/06 season there has also been a youth regional league in the age group of male A-youth, there was no relay for the female A-youth.

On December 31, 2012, the NHV was dissolved. The members had decided to dissolve, as the introduction of the 3rd handball leagues meant that the association no longer had any tasks. This is due to the fact that the DHB has taken over the former tasks through the restructuring together with the handball regional council.
