The Hamburger Handball-Verband e. V. (HHV) is a national handball association based in Hamburg . The HHV is a member of the German Handball Federation (DHB) and belongs to the Hamburger Sportbund (HSB).

On April 1, 1948, the HHV emerged from the handball division of the Hamburger Sport-Bund (HSB) and was entered in the register of associations at the Hamburg District Court on August 16, 1956 .

Since the structural reform in 2010, the top division in the senior division has been the fifth division Hamburg League, which is located below the cross-association Oberliga Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein . The season winners of the Hamburg League are promoted to the top league as "Hamburg champions". Until 2010, the Hamburg Oberliga , which was part of the regional leagues, was the top division.

There are no further subdivisions within the HHV. The game operations in the leagues below the Hamburg League (since 2010 regional league, district league, district league and district class) are organized directly by the HHV. Accordingly, the associations are also directly members of the HHV.

The area of the HHV is not identical to the state borders of the federal state of Hamburg. Many clubs from the Hamburg area are members of the HHV and take part in its gaming operations. The most prominent representative is the Buxtehuder SV , whose first women's team plays in the 1st Bundesliga .
