The handball association Rhineland (HVR) is a regional association of the German Handball Federation . Until its dissolution, he belonged to the Southwest German Handball Association . The districts Rhein / Westerwald, Mosel / Eifel and Nahe / Hunsrück are assigned to it.

history

The handball association Rhineland was founded on July 2, 1949 in Koblenz and comprised the administrative districts of Koblenz, Montabaur and Trier, which were divided into six handball districts. From 1952 to 2002 the handball federation Rhineland belonged to the West German handball federation in order to be integrated afterwards as the sixth federation in the south west German handball federation and to remain in this until its dissolution in the year 2011.

League structure

The highest league for men and women teams, in which the handball association Rhineland participates organizationally and playfully, as one of the four supporting associations, is the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar (RPS), from which the respective champions enter the 3 . League is rising right. At the association level, the Rhineland League and the Association League for men and the Rhineland League for women are connected in descending order. At the subdivided district level, games at the state, district and district league level for all teams participating in the game take place as required.

The play classes of the male and female youth teams are almost identical to those of the adult teams according to the individual age groups that are used in the youth play area. Only the male and female youth of the qualifying clubs have the opportunity in the youth division of 17 to 18 year olds, A youth, 15 to 16 year olds, B youth and 13 to 14 year olds, C-youth to participate in the game rounds of the handball league Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar. At the subordinate association level, depending on the number of registered youth teams, league matches are held or Final Four championship tournaments are played in which the best-placed youth teams from the individual districts take part. This affects the age groups of male and female A, B and C adolescents as well as that of D adolescents in the age group of 11 to 12 year olds. At the district level, championship and game rounds are held for all players in the club's youth teams, according to their age groups.

Important teams

The various clubs of the Rhineland handball federation, which played and still play their games in the middle and higher performance range at regional and national level, underscored the importance of the federation for handball within the German Handball Federation.

Rhineland Cup

The Rhineland handball association organizes the "HV Rheinland Pokal" annually for both men and women. The winner of the Final Four qualifies for the DHB Cup .
