Aigneville ( Picard : Aingville ) is a northern French municipality with 890 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté de communes du Vimeu and the canton of Gamaches .

geography

The municipality is located in Vimeu around four kilometers south of Feuquières-en-Vimeu . It includes the districts of Hocquélus in the west and Courcelles in the east.

Toponymy and History

The name of the community, in which traces of a Gallo-Roman villa were found and which was dependent on the castellanion Maisnières, which was subordinate to the Abbey of Corbie, is derived from the Latin agni villa (country estate of the lambs).
