Saint-Blimont is a northern French municipality with 878 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the canton of Friville-Escarbotin .

geography

The municipality is located at the transition from Vimeu to the Picardy coast, four kilometers north of Friville-Escarbotin and nine kilometers southwest of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme . The municipality includes the districts Élincourt in the north and Ebalet, Offeux and La Râperie in the south.

history

The origin of the place is attributed to Saint Walaricus (Valery), the founder of the Leuconay monastery, from which Saint-Valery-sur-Somme developed, who is said to have healed Blimond in 615. The rule was called Saint-Blimond until the French Revolution ; In 1682 she was raised to margraviate .
