Favières ( Picard : favière ) is a northern French municipality with 462 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté de communes Ponthieu-Marquenterre and the canton of Rue .

geography

The municipality bordering the Somme Bay is south of Rue and east of Le Crotoy in the marshland of the Somme estuary in the Marquenterre . The hamlets of Le Hamelet and Le Marais belong to it. The meter-gauge railway from Noyelles-sur-Mer to Le Crotoy runs through the south of the municipality with a stop, which is operated as Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme as a tourist and museum railway.

history

The place with its church is mentioned in 1138. Half of the reign belonged to the chapter of Saint-Wulfran. Later, part of the parish belonged to the Saint-Valéry Abbey.
