Church of the Nativity of the Virgin

Forest-l'Abbaye ( Picard : FER l'Abbie ) is a northern French municipality with 301 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté de communes Ponthieu-Marquenterre and the canton of Abbeville-1 .

geography

The community on the department road D105 to Crécy-en-Ponthieu is located in Ponthieu on the southern edge of the forest Forêt Domaniale de Crécy about twelve kilometers north of Abbeville and four kilometers east of Nouvion .

history

The Abbey of Saint-Riquier owned a house in Forest. In the 13th century the community was the seat of a Templar commando . The place was served from 1892 to 1951 by a secondary railway coming from Noyelles-sur-Mer .
