Mareuil-Caubert ( Picard : Mareu-Cœubert ) is a northern French municipality with 825 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté d'agglomération de la Baie de Somme and the canton of Abbeville-2 .

geography

The municipality is located south of Abbeville on the left bank of the Somme , whose valley is interspersed with ponds, below Huchenneville . The municipality includes the districts of Le Cellier, Les Étangs, Caubert, Mareuil (both in the Somme valley on the slope edge) and the eastern part of Villers-sur-Mareuil.

A Roman camp stood on the Monts de Caubert.

During the Battle of Abbeville , fighting took place in the parish between May 28 and June 4, 1940.
