Yonval is a French municipality with 227 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Abbeville arrondissement , the Abbeville-2 canton and the Baie de Somme municipality .
geography
Yonval is four kilometers southwest of Abbeville and 2.8 kilometers southeast of Cambron in the Somme Valley on the 28 motorway .
history
During excavations, traces of two Gallo-Roman villas were found, so the place was already settled in Gallo-Roman times (52 BC to 5th century AD).
On June 4, 1940 during World War II , the Battle of Abbeville ended in the area between Yonval and the hamlet of Bienfay de Moyenneville . A stele was erected in Yonval to commemorate this battle and the 15th French infantry regiment .
The municipality of Yonval was not established until 1985, before the place was part of Cambron.
economy
The image of the community is determined by pastures and fields. Important occupations of the Yonvalois are arable farming and the breeding of domestic cattle and domestic pigs.
