Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont ( Picard : Saint-Quentin-in-Tourmont ) is a northern French municipality with 282 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté de communes Ponthieu-Marquenterre and the canton of Rue .
geography
The parish is located west of Rue and southwest of Marquenterre between the confluence of the Authie and the Somme . Its southern limit is the course of the river Maye . Extensive dunes occupy the west behind the beach, to the east of these lies marshland. In the sea, the Parc Naturel marin des Estuaires Picards et de la Mer d'Opale and the Reserve naturelle de la Baie de Somme adjoin the coast . The Parc du Marquenterre bird sanctuary is located in the municipality . The district of Le Bout des Crocs belongs to the municipality. In the 1960s, an area of around 200 hectares was diked.
Toponymy and History
The place is known as Taurimons juxtamare in 986 and as Villa de Torto Monte in 1257.
In the 9th century he owned a port that later silted up. In 1256 it belonged to the monks of Forest-Montiers . In 1588 a ship of the Spanish Armada failed off the coast. The silting up caused the church to be relocated several times. A coastal battery was set up to protect the coast.
