Saint-Wandrille Church

Dargnies ( Picard : Dérgny ) is a northern French municipality with 1246 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the canton of Gamaches .

geography

The municipality is located above the valley of the Bresle in Vimeu around ten kilometers east of Eu and three kilometers north of Beauchamps .

history

The name of the community is traced back to Celtic origins. The Dargnies and Cornehotte fiefs, which were clearly distinguished and came under the same rule in 1337, existed until the 14th century.

economy

Like the neighboring Vimeu industriel, the community had a developed metal industry (hardware, foundry), but only two of these have survived to the present day.
