Fontaine-sur-Maye ( Picard : Fontainne-su-Meye ) is a northern French municipality with 161 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté de communes Ponthieu-Marquenterre and the canton of Rue .
geography
The community is located around 3.5 kilometers south-east of Crécy-en-Ponthieu at the source of the Maye river . In the northeast, it borders on a section of the Chaussée Brunehaut system .
history
Fontaine-sur-Maye was first mentioned as Fontanae in 851 . The place was one of the scenes of the Battle of Crécy in the Hundred Years War . In 1635 and 1636 the place was devastated by Spanish troops.
