Arrest ( Picard : Arret ) is a northern French municipality with 869 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the canton of Abbeville-2 .

geography

The municipality is located about seven kilometers south of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme , seven kilometers north of Feuquières-en-Vimeu and 9.5 kilometers northeast of Friville-Escarbotin on the Avalasse stream, a right tributary of the Amboise , which flows into the Somme- Bay flows out. The hamlet of Catigny in the north, which has grown together with the main town, is part of the arrest.

Jean d'Arrech (Arrest) sold half of Arrest's lands to the monks of Forest-Montiers in 1271 .
