(9017) Babadzhanyan is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on October 2, 1986 by the Ukrainian-Soviet astronomer Lyudmyla Vasylivna Shuravlowa at the Crimean Observatory ( IAU code 095) in Nautschnyj .

The asteroid was named on March 9, 2001 after the Armenian composer and pianist Arno Babadschanjan (1921–1983), who won various international music competitions and who composed the Armenian Rhapsody in 1950 .
