Dominois ( Picard : Domino ) is a northern French municipality with 177 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté de communes Ponthieu-Marquenterre and the canton of Rue .

geography

The municipality is located around 9.5 km north-northwest of Crécy-en-Ponthieu on the left (southern) bank of the Authie river ; a bridge connects it with Douriez on the right bank. On a hill in the west, the hamlet of Petit Chemin with its southern part belongs to Dominois (the north is part of the municipality of Argoules ).

Toponymy and History

The community name is derived from a domain.

In the 12th century a fortress was built in the middle of the muddy floodplain. Hops were grown until the end of the 19th century.
