Nibas ( Picard Nibo ) is a northern French municipality with 853 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté de communes du Vimeu and the canton of Friville-Escarbotin .
geography
The community is east of Friville-Escarbotin adjoining. Nibas includes the districts of Rimbehem, Le Bout de la Ville, Le Bocquet, Saucourt and Petit Saucourt, the latter on the D925 départemental road from Abbeville to Eu (Seine-Maritime) . Wailly has only survived as a field name. In the south of the municipality there are two wind farms (Parc Éolien de Nibas and Parc Éolien de Saucourt). The Avalasse stream, a right tributary of the Amboise, has its source in the north of the municipality .
history
In addition to prehistoric finds, a Gallo-Roman cemetery was discovered. On the territory of the municipality (or the neighboring municipality of Ochancourt) took place in 881 the battle of Saucourt between Franks under Ludwig III. (France) and Normans instead.
In 1870, during the Franco-Prussian War , Nibas was occupied by Prussian troops. Since the creation of the canton Friville-Escarbotin in 1985, Nibas has belonged to it (previously to the canton of Ault).
