Bernay-en-Ponthieu ( Picard : Berna-in-Pontiu ) is a northern French municipality with 231 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté de communes Ponthieu-Marquenterre and the canton of Rue .

geography

The municipality, traversed by the former Route nationale 1 and the Autoroute A16 (with a junction on the southern edge of the municipality) is bordered in the north by the river Maye and in the east by the Forêt Domaniale de Crécy forest. It is located around six kilometers north-northwest of Nouvion . The district of La Bucaille belongs to the municipality. The former hamlet of Retz à Coulons is now only a single farm, Genville has died.

history

Roman finds indicate early settlement. In 843 the place is mentioned as being dependent on Forest-Montiers Abbey .
