Marcus Tidemann

Marcus Tidemann (* 1675 in Lübeck ; † April 27, 1753 ibid) was a Lübeck merchant and councilor.

Life

Marcus Tidemann was the son of the Lübeck merchant Jakob Tidemann. He received his commercial training in the company of his uncle Johann Rodde in Narva . In 1700 he took over his father's trading business in Lübeck. He was a member of the merchants' corporation of the Schonenfahrer in Lübeck and in 1725 became their senior man . He was one of the four councilors who were elected to the Lübeck council in 1739 under pressure from the citizens , after the council had made no move of its own accord to adhere to the constitutionally prescribed number of council members.
