Épagne-Épagnette is a northern French municipality with 544 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Abbeville and is part of the Communauté d'agglomération de la Baie de Somme and the canton of Abbeville-2 .

geography

The built-up part of the municipality, which extends beyond the A16 autoroute in the north, with Épagnette in the west and Épagne in the east, is on the right (northern) bank of the Somme , while the municipality extends over the Somme floodplain in the south. A wind farm is located on the heights north of the Somme and extends over the neighboring municipalities of Eaucourt-sur-Somme and Pont-Remy to the east .

history

In 1178 the Abbey of Notre-Dame d'Épagne was founded. Épagne and Épagnette each owned a castle not far from the Somme. The abbey also later became a castle.
