The Cistercian Abbey Épagne was 1178-1747 a monastery of Cistercian nuns first in Épagne-Épagnette , 1642 in Abbeville in the Somme ( France ).

history

Enguerrand de Fontaines founded the nunnery Notre-Dame et Saint Mathieu d'Épagne (also: Espagne or Épaigne ) in 1178 on the Somme not far from Abbeville with the support of the Bishop of Amiens , which later settled the Cistercian abbey Le Trésor . In 1642 the monastery was moved to the city of Abbeville and in 1747 it was incorporated into the Cistercian Abbey of Willencourt . Neither in Épagne-Épagnette, where the monastery coat of arms was adopted, nor in Abbeville remains. The church of Mézerolles has the former altarpiece of the monastery.
