Cistercian Abbey of Le Trésor

The Cistercian Abbey of Le Trésor was 1228-1790 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Bus-Saint-Remy in the Eure in France .

history

On the river Epte , southwest of Gisors , the local lords founded the nunnery Notre-Dame-du-Trésor in 1228 , which was settled with sisters from the monastery of Épagne and incorporated into the Cistercian order in 1237 (subordinate to the monastery of Les Vaux-de-Cernay ). The monastery received further donations from Blanka of Castile , who stayed there several times with her son Louis the Saint . The buildings were completed in 1250. When it was dissolved by the French Revolution in 1790 , 21 nuns were on site (maximum historical occupancy: 79). The 60-meter-long nunnery and the portal (from 1735) stand out from the remains of the building. Also of note are the remains of an extensive hydraulic system. Since 1989 (1992) the facility (now a private business enterprise) has been a listed building.
