The history of the association

Association area Rheinhessen

Rheinhessen came into being under this name after 1815, when the previously politically highly fragmented region was united for the first time and added to the Grand Duchy of Hesse. Due to the demarcation between the French and American occupation zones, it was separated from Hesse after World War II and from 1947 was one of five administrative districts of the newly created federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It included the independent cities of Mainz and Worms and the two districts of Alzey-Worms and Mainz-Bingen.

Founded in 1949 until today

The HVR was founded in Alzey in 1949. In 2001 the joint upper leagues RPS of the regional associations Rheinhessen, Pfalz and Saar were introduced.
