The Handball-Sport-Club Ingelheim e. V. (HSC Ingelheim e.V.) is a handball club from Ingelheim am Rhein in the Mainz-Bingen district . The association was founded on September 7, 1967. It is one of the largest clubs in Rheinhessen and one of the few individual clubs in the handball sector. The first men's team played from 1983 to 1987 in what was then the third highest division of the DHB , the Regionalliga.

history

Handball in Ingelheim existed before 1945, but it was not until 1965 that an active team started playing. A handball department was established at SpVgg Ingelheim . Since the SpVgg concentrated more on football, however, on September 7, 1967, an independent handball club, the HSC, was founded. The club developed quickly, and the women's team was promoted to the league in 1974. The men's team also played in the league in 1977. The development finally culminated in the fact that from 1983 to 1987 they played in the Regionalliga as the third highest German class.

More recently playing after some ups and downs, the first men's team (since 2015) and the first women's team (since 2013) in the Rheinhessen League, the top division of the Association .

A syndicate with the DJK / SF Budenheim in the male A youth team won the 2015 league championship from the Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland areas. For the following 2015/16 season, JSG Ingelheim / Budenheim was able to qualify for the A-Jugend-Bundesliga-Handball .

The first men's team rose to second place in the association league in the Rheinhessenliga after the 2014/15 season, but had to go back to the association league after two years.

For the 2016/17 season, the women's department started again with 2 teams. The re-establishment of Damen 2 is closely linked to the names Markus Bitz and Joachim Zajonz.

In order to put a greater focus on youth work and to be able to position itself more broadly, the club set up a youth play community with the handball department of the Turn- und Sportgemeinde 1891 e. V from Ober-Hilbersheim founded. Training groups for female youths were also initiated, which should enable the establishment of a female youth department in the medium term.

Teams

HSC Ingelheim has three active men's teams and two women's teams in the 2017/18 season and is represented in the male youth department from the Minis to the A-Youth. Youth girls' handball is currently taking place in some training groups, which should also take part in the game in the medium term.
