AMTV Hamburg
The Altrahlstedter Männerturnverein von 1893 eV ( AMTV Hamburg ) is a sports club in Hamburg-Rahlstedt . AMTV is one of the 50 largest sports clubs in Germany and one of the 10 largest sports clubs in Hamburg. The association has about 6,000 members and has departments for gymnastics , swimming , table tennis , gymnastics , handball , dance , athletics , judo , ju-jutsu , basketball , triathlon and karate, among other things .
history
The association was founded in 1893. The swimming department was founded in 1947, the judo department in 1982.
Furnishing
The club center (with fitness studio) is located in the center of Rahlstedt. One kilometer away, the club maintains the AMTV activity center with a 3-field sports hall. The swimming offers extend to the indoor swimming pool Rahlstedt and the Farmenser swimming pool. The outdoor activities take place on the grounds of the Rahlstedt Sports Park.
successes
The main focus of the association is on the promotion of recreational and popular sports , but AMTV Hamburg has also been very successful in some areas in competitive sports :
- the swimmer Birte Steven is multiple German champion, Olympic participant and sixth in the 2007 World Cup in breaststroke
- the women's swimming team started swimming in the 1st Bundesliga in 2007
- the Kata team with Miriam Heinrich, Jutta Heinrich and Anke Lepthien reached third place at the 2006 German Karate Championships
- the handball team played in the regional league and (partly through the second game right ) produced several Bundesliga players (including Dennis Klockmann , Henning Wiechers , Hanno Holzhüter , Jan Schult and Adrian Wagner )
