The North German Chamber Choir is a mixed choir founded by Maria Jürgensen in Hamburg in 2005 .

History and repertoire

In January 2005 the ensemble met for the first time under the direction of Maria Jürgensen and performed cantatas IV to VI from the Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach . As a project-based and institutionally independent choir, the singers have since performed in various locations, primarily in northern Germany. The repertoire ranges from early Baroque music to contemporary compositions. One focus is on sacred a cappella music, but larger works such as Bach's St. John Passion or his Mass in B minor also mark the ensemble's chronicle.

In 2015 the choir was awarded the ECHO Klassik in the category choral work recording of the year .
