Nordlandkai

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nordlandkai (also Vorwerker Hafen ) is one of the Lübeck ports on the Trave . It is operated by the Lübecker Hafengesellschaft (LHG).

Nordlandkai specializes in the handling and storage of forest products, especially paper from Finland until 2014 . The terminal is also used for handling trucks and semitrailers (trailers), containers , heavy goods and project cargo. Since 2015 the port has also been used for the transshipment of bulk goods (initially building materials for road construction) from railway wagons to trucks .

Due to the change of the transhipment location from Lübeck to Rostock at the Finnish paper manufacturer UPM , the throughput volume at Nordlandkai fell considerably, only Stora Enso Süd remained here as a major customer in the paper sector. In 2014, 2,342,224 t were handled at Nordlandkai  , compared to 5,534,763 t in 2004.
