The North Sea fishing ship type was a series of fishing and freezing ships from the Elbe shipyard in Boizenburg . According to their function, the ships were called frost trawlers .

history

In addition to the Eisbär , which was equipped as a research ship and commissioned in 1965, 15 frost trawlers were built between 1966 and 1968 for the Saßnitz fish combine . Most of the ships were decommissioned in the first half of the 1990s.

technology

The North Sea type frost trawlers were developed for year-round fishing for herrings and herring-like fish. The ships had a Heckaufschleppe over which the trawl was placed on the 23-meter-long fishing deck. A remote-controlled 4-drum net winch with 80 kN was available for lifting . In addition, the ships were equipped with additional equipment for purse seine fishing .

The caught fish was pre-cooled in two 15 m 3 collecting bunkers. Three vertical plate freezers, each with a capacity of 7 tons per hour, were fed via sorting belts using airlift pumps. After passing through a glazing machine and a packaging machine, the fish, frozen in blocks, was transported via conveyor belts to the 540 m 3 refrigerated hold.
