The north beach in Erfurt is a flooded gravel pit and has been used as a leisure and recreation park since 1972. The total area of ​​the amusement park is 35 ha, of which about 16 ha are water and 19 ha are land.

The lake is located near the city of Erfurt in the Johannesvorstadt district south of a chain of former gravel pits around the Alperstedter See , which are to be expanded into a water landscape with a regional development concept for renaturation.
