Norm Higgins
Norm Higgins (actually: Norman Higgins ; born November 18, 1936 ) is a former American marathon runner .
In 1963 and 1965 he won the Western Hemisphere Marathon . In 1966 he was fifth at the Boston Marathon and American champion as the winner of the Yonkers Marathon . In 1971 he won the New York City Marathon and finished second in the Western Hemisphere Marathon with his personal best of 2:15:52 h. In 1972 he was ninth in the US eliminator for the Olympic Games in Munich .
After his playing career, he became a coach. His most successful protégé was the middle and long distance runner Jan Merrill .
