Norman Rowland Gale (born March 4, 1862 in Kew / Surrey , † October 7, 1942 ) was an English children's author, poet and storyteller.

Gale's first volumes of poetry appeared in small private prints, and it was only with the volume Violet that he became known to a larger audience. He had greater success with books of poetry such as A Country Muse (1892), A Coutry Muse: New Collection (1893), the Orchard Songs , which were published fifteen times in 100 years, and the Cricket Songs , which saw twelve editions.
