Norman Luboff
Norman Luboff (born May 14, 1917 in Chicago , Illinois , † September 22, 1987 in Bynim , North Carolina ) was an American choir director, arranger and composer.
Luboff studied at the University of Chicago and the city's Central College and was a student of Leo Sowerby . He worked as a singer and arranger for radio stations in Chicago until he moved to New York in the mid-1940s.
In 1948 he came to Hollywood as arranger and film music composer for Warner Bros. and composed and arranged the music for more than 80 cinema films (including for April in Paris 1954) and numerous television productions. He was the choirmaster of Gordon MacRae's radio show The Railroad Hour and made recordings with musicians such as Bing Crosby , Frank Sinatra , Jo Stafford and Doris Day .
In the mid-1950s, Luboff founded the Norman Luboff Choir . He went on tour with this annually between 1963 and 1987 and recorded more than 75 LPs.
