The Normanna Reef is a reef in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of Melchior Islands , it is close to the center of the southern entrance to The Sound .
The name of the reef is first recorded on a map based on surveys by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations in 1927. The name probably goes back to an earlier point in time and is attributed to whalers. Presumably namesake is the whaling ship D / S Normanna from the Norwegian Sandefjord .
