The North River is a 165 km long river in the south of Labrador .
River course
The North River rises in the Mealy Mountains in the southeast of the Labrador Peninsula , 35 km southeast of Lake Melville at an altitude of 500 m . Initially it flows through a system of lakes in an easterly direction. Then he turns to the north-northeast. For the last 90 kilometers it flows eastwards before it flows into the open sea north of the bay exit of Sandwich Bay . The unincorporated place North River is located on the north bank at the mouth of the North River. The river system is located within the Akami-Uapishkᵁ-KakKasuak-Mealy-Mountains National Park . The catchment area covers an area of 2234 km².
Fish fauna
Atlantic salmon and brook trout are found in the North River system .
