The North Taranaki Bight is a large bay on the north west coast of New Plymouth District region Taranaki on the North Island of New Zealand extends. Its coastline stretches from Cape Egmont first in an easterly, then in a northerly direction. The bay has a counterpart in the South Taranaki Bight south of Cape Egmont.

The extent of the bay varies depending on the source. Narrower definitions include the area between the mouth of the Waitara River to the mouth of the Mokau River . Other sources also include the coast north to Tirua Point (50 km southwest of Te Kuiti ) or even to Albatross Point near the entrance to Kawhia Harbor .

The New Zealand State Highway 3 follows the coastline from Waitara to Awakino .
