Northside (band)
Northside were a British musical group of the Madchester movement.
Career
The group was founded in 1989 in Manchester . The following year they released two singles. The first, Shall We Take A Trip , was only played at night by the BBC due to drug references (the song begins with the letters LSD ), the second, My Rising Star , reached the UK Top 40 .
In 1991 the only album Chicken Rhythms and another top 40 single Take 5 were released. Northside also had some successes in North America .
In 1992 recordings were made for a second album. Because of the bankruptcy of Northside's record company Factory Records , it was never released. The search for a new record company was unsuccessful and led to the temporary end of the band in 1996.
In late 2006, Northside went on a comeback tour of Great Britain.
Guitarist Tim Walsh passed away in August 2019.
