The South Paris – Norway railway is a railway line in Maine ( United States ).

On April 23, 1879, the Norway Branch Railroad was founded. They built a branch in South Paris from the main Portland – Montréal line of the Grand Trunk Railway (GTR) to Norway . The standard-gauge , 2.3-kilometer line was opened in December 1879.

Shortly thereafter, on May 1, 1880, the Grand Trunk Railway leased the Norway Branch Railroad. The operation was led from the beginning by the GTR, or today its successor company, the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Railroad . From January 1926, the passenger trains no longer commuted between South Paris and Norway, but some trains on the main line ran along the branch. In the direction of Island Pond, they pushed backwards from South Paris to Norway, in order to drive forward again over the branch in the north. In the direction of Portland, the same maneuver took place in the opposite direction. This cumbersome traffic ended in 1939. In 1990 the railway line was initially closed, but from 1997 trains again ran to just under a kilometer south of South Paris.
