biography
Van Kan started his career at a young age. A distinctive feature was that as a child he wildly beat the piano and hit his head on the table on purpose, leaving a scar above the eyebrow.
Around 1993 van Kan began with the first musical production. He used a cassette recorder and a self-made record printer to create his own long-playing records. His first recordings were mixed by cut and paste . After a few years he was able to build his own studio. Van Kan bought equipment, including a sampler, and produced some tracks that were never officially released but only played to friends.
Van Kan later worked in a coffee shop . During this time he produced a demo tape for a friend who had good connections with a record label . Here he got his first chance to publish his work. So was All That She Wants at the record company Bünkor Beats Records published.
At this time he started performing as a DJ at various small events. Some of these festivals were so-called underground events . Van Kan focused on the bigger events, including the Squat party in the center of The Hague. Other DJs also came to the festival, such as the British DJ Raw Virus and many others. Van Kan performed there under his pseudonym DJ Mystic and put on non-stop for over seven hours.
After several years as a DJ and then as a producer, he bought new equipment with which he made new demo tapes. At an event where DJ Ruffneck was performing, van Kan gave him such a demo, which resulted in a contract with the record label Cardiac Music bv. came about. Essential parts were negotiated, such as the later publications Inspiration Vibes and Dangerous Battle .
Today van Kan is under contract with Enzyme Records .
